Disposable Syringes Should Not Be Discarded At Will After Use!

Jun 28, 2022

As a kind of medical devices, disposable syringes must not be discarded at will after use, and medical treatment also has written regulations on how to dispose of the five disposable syringes after use, mainly including several points.

1. The vaccination unit should have a special person responsible for the disinfection and destruction of disposable syringes.

2. Establish records of allocation, purchase, use and destruction of disposable syringes, which should be complete and consistent with accounts and materials.

3. Disposable syringes should be used for vaccination.

4. When using disposable syringes for vaccination, the system of "one person, one needle, one tube, one use and one destruction" must be strictly implemented.

5. When using disposable syringes, the staff of grassroots vaccination units should check whether the syringe packaging is intact and within the validity period. Products whose packaging has been damaged or has exceeded the validity period should not be used.

6. When the vaccination is completed, the disposable syringe after use should be put into a puncture proof safety collection container (safety box) made of solid materials and handed over for treatment before the next vaccination. Do not reuse disposable syringes.

7. The disposable syringe after use can be destructed with a destructor, or after the needle and syringe are separated by manual destructor, the needle can be directly put into the stab proof container or bent more than 90 degrees with pliers. The nipple of the syringe can be clamped with pliers and soaked in disinfectant containing effective chlorine 1000mg/l for more than 60 minutes.

The above content is about the disposal of disposable syringes after use. The last step is to destroy, incinerate or bury these collected syringes to ensure that they are disposable supplies.
